Performance of sport and physical activity policy programs Efficiency and effectiveness of (semi-)public agencies
Vacant PhD position in the field of sport management and sport policy
Title of project:
Performance of sport and physical activity policy programs Efficiency and effectiveness of (semi-)public agencies
Summary:
Over the last decades public agencies like governments and non-governmental organizations are more and more interested in developing policy programs as regards sport and physical activity. During the same period of time, market oriented insights from the New Public Management theory (NPM) have been used to modernize the public sector. However, the question remains whether public agencies have been successful in obtaining a greater cost-efficiency without having negative side effects on their policy objectives. The present study will examine the organizational and political structure of sport policy programs in order to formulate research based guidelines for future policy actions. Efficiency and effectiveness of the sport policy system will be investigated based on financial and legislative sources using specific data analysis tools.
