SMIT stands for Studies on Media, Information and Telecommunication. This research centre, founded in 1990 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, is part of IBBT, the Interdisciplinary Institute for Broadband Technology. SMIT specialises in social scientific research on media and ICT, with an emphasis on innovation, policy and socio-economic questions.

Within the framework of its activities for the Interdisciplinary Institute for BroadBand Technology (www.IBBT.be) the research institute SMIT of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (www.vub.ac.be) is looking for a full-time researcher.
SMIT - Studies on Media Information and Telecommunication (smit.vub.ac.be) specializes in socio-economic and policy research on media and ICT, and consists of a group of over 40 researchers.
The new colleague will be deployed on industry-driven projects that focus on innovative network-based services, and examine the business aspects of these services.
Profiel:
• A degree in Economics, Management Sciences, or another University degree with additional economic training.
• Strong interest in ICT and innovation
• Strong understanding of market structures and business processes
• Excellent writing skills, especially in English
• Confident speaker with presentation skills
• You work autonomously under supervision of your team leader, and in concert with your fellow researchers.
• Flexibility and being able to cope with deadlines
